Lemon8 is a new social media app created by ByteDance, the creators of the wildly popular TikTok app. Designed to be a lifestyle app, Lemon8 is like a mixture of Instagram and Pinterest. It's photo-heavy but allows users to share recipes, outfits, travel guides, and more.

Users must meet the minimum age requirements to use Lemon8 (as stipulated in our Terms of Services). We remove their accounts from our platform when underage account holders are identified.

While app safety testing platform Qustodio reports that Lemon8 works as advertised and doesn't have any major safety concerns, it is believed that it operates using the same algorithms as TikTok, meaning the same data safety harvesting concerns could be warranted.

The app is free to download. And creators can start thinking about how Lemon8 can fit into their existing social media tools. It could be a good idea for creators to sign up early so they get their preferred username. And so that they can figure out how to use the app sooner rather than later.
