U2 performed from the roof of a store in downtown LA to make the video for 'Where The Streets Have No Name", March 27, 1987.

One of U2's most overtly political songs, its lyrics describe the horror felt by an observer of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, mainly focusing on the 1972 Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where British troops shot and killed unarmed civil rights protesters.

This 1987 hit single often went through mixed interpretation, but as confirmed by the songwriter Bono himself that the song is about his struggle to reconcile his responsibilities both as a married man and as a musician on road. He cannot let go of either of it and at the same time he cannot go on with it.

The video for "Where the Streets Have No Name" was directed by Meiert Avis and produced by Michael Hamlyn and Ben Dossett. The band attracted over 1,000 people during the video's filming, which took place on the rooftop of a liquor store in Downtown Los Angeles on 27 March 1987.
