Lemon8 is a new social media app created by ByteDance, the creators of the wildly popular TikTok app. Designed to be a lifestyle app, Lemon8 is like a mixture of Instagram and Pinterest. It's photo-heavy but allows users to share recipes, outfits, travel guides, and more.

A report from The New York Times confirms influencers are being paid by Lemon8 to post on the app as long as they follow post guidelines, like making 10 posts in a month with captions of at least 150 words and a carousel of between three and 10 photos.

However, while most of the content on Lemon8 seems positive and innocent, it's still filled with the type of “inspirational” post that could have negative effects on body positivity and overall mental health in the long run – much like most of social media.

Users must meet the minimum age requirements to use Lemon8 (as stipulated in our Terms of Services). We remove their accounts from our platform when underage account holders are identified.
